India to be third largest civil aviation market

During July.2016, Boeing has upgraded its forecast for the Indian market. It projects that during next 20 years, India would place orders for 1,850 planes at an estimated value of US$ 265 Billion. Further, India requires nearly 200 airports for interconnecting cities. Out of these, 50 are expected to be built in the next 10 years. In December 2015, go-ahead was given for development of 4 greenfield airports, 1 in Gujarat and 3 in Andhra Pradesh. Indian civil aviation market ranks ninth in the world and it is estimated that by 2020, India would be the third largest civil aviation market. Indian airports handled passenger traffic of 190 Million persons in 2015.
